Why didn't somebody tell me years ago that if I focused on fitness instead of weight loss, I would have had amazing results years ago. I cringe thinking of all the money I spent on trainers and hours and hours in the gym over the last decade or so with little results. I think I've cracked the code for us women, at least those of us with slower metabolisms...triathlon training! Swim, bike and run your way into the smaller size and incredible health. The guesstimate is that I've lost well over 60+ pounds in the last year since beginning my triathlon training. I haven't stepped on a scale since the day I walked into PAC to sign-up for a membership and I'm confident I've never been in better shape. I decided after decades of allowing my scale to dictate my happiness, that I would look to a higher power in my faith...both in God and in myself. I was an athlete and Captain of all my teams in high school playing soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse and continued playing soccer through college and beyond. I've always wanted to do a triathlon but never dared tell friends and family for fear I wasn't cut out for longer distances. I worried my weight would prevent me from a strong performance. Now, with the big 40 fast approaching, I wish I had dove into this sport years ago. Thus far, I've done just 2 sprint triathlons and just registered for 2 more this year, as well as a 100 mile bike in the Tour de Cure. I'm clearing up some pesky health issues so I can train more on running and then I'll be ready for the next step up. I can't attend the Crawfishman or the Iron Chick due to a scheduling conflict, but am ready for something with similar distances. So for those of you new to the sport and/or our site, you've found an incredible connection. I would love to stay and talk, but I desperately need to get my bike into The Bike Path so I can catch up to Ray and Tina and start riding outside again and enjoy this gorgeous spring weather we're experiencing. Keep in mind, if you're a female wanting to participate in Rocketchix triathlon on May 1st, we have a team of about 23+ spirited, fun ladies racing from PAC and we welcome members and non-members alike. Send me a note if you're interested. We're currently enjoying 2 day/wk swim clinics with the PAC coaches and we're all making great progress in the pool...come join us!
