A SOCIAL NETWORK WHERE WE ARE A WITNESS TO SPIRITUAL & PHYSICAL FITNESS
Back in July of 2009 at 268lbs. I never expect to get back in the shape I'm in today. It seems that the Lord contiually opens doors that have lead me to achieve what I never expected at the age of 40. For many years I was an avid runner and triathlete. Then in 2003 I hung it all up. With a foot injury and family life taking over. I turned my devotion to God, Family and work. Then over the years I started putting on a lot of weight. I balloned from 195 lbs to 268 Ibs. I noticed my health was getting worse. My cholesterol was high and I had to go on meds and I started having some other problems and issues and was seeing the doctor quite often.
My wife keep at me to get back in shape and she asked God for me to do somethng. Also we always ask, what kind of example I'm I setting for my kid. I want my son to grow help with a healthy life style and understand that I need to set that example. I decided to return to the road. It has been a very hard road over the past year attempting to balance family and work; however, the journey is paying off. I have lost 55 lbs and accomplished a triathlon bike ride I never thought I could accomplish. I never thought I would see the day when I would have one of the fastest bike splits with a speed of 25.2 for 13 miles. My run use to the very fast coming from a college track and cross country background; however, my running is extremely slow these days. I have traded one discipline for the other it seems. Finishing 19th overall in a triathlon at 40 and having that fast of a bike split was never on mind a year ago.
I have learned that sometimes God opens the door; however, you have to make the choice to go in. I had to make a choice. My health is more important to family probably than it is to me. I saw that when I wasn't healthy it effected my family. Today, I continuely work to improve my relationship with Jesus, have a wonderful family, I'm on no meds, healther than I was at 33, and give thanks to God to have such blessings in my life, especiallly when we see so much sorry and tragedy in today's world.
.
It's great to have the blessing that are bestowed upon us. Let's remember the saying "pay it forward". God opens doors, opportunities for us to pay his blessings forward. Let the light of Jesus work through your blessings when he provides those opportunities to you.
