Who belongs here in this group?

If you consider yourself a runner 1st and foremost and have something to offer to the novice runner, you may want to be in this group. We need serious runners in this group. DON'T HESITATE TO PLACE RUNNERS' ONLY EVENTS ON THIS SITE! Even if you consider yourself a triathlete, it is good to be in this group.Remember you are welcome to be in more than one group. If you just want to become a runner, remember this is a safe place for you to be.The beautiful thing (if you have ever run a half or whole marathon), is that everyone always has someone to run with because everyone has a different level of fitness. You wanna run....join this group. We expect our members to encourage and lift up each other. We @ Northshore Tri-Club etc. welcome everyone. Our wish is simply that each member displays a behavior that would be pleasing to the one who gave us the ability to run!.

I would love to find a running buddy in the slidell area.  Right now my longest distance is about 5 miles, but I have run a marathon and a couple halves, and I am looking at training for a couple half marathons in the fall.

For those who have run at the Northlake Nature Center, are the trails fairly smooth, or lots of tree roots and rough? Just wondering.

Is any body running the Bogue Chitto trail run Sunday? They have a 5 mile and a 10 mile trail run. It should be a lot of fun. I am looking for someone to run the 10 mile run with. If anyone is interested please shoot me an email. jay1970@charter.net

Give Dawn a bonus point! Carbs are for energy and Protein is for tissue growth. But remember the best carbs come from fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds because those foods come packed with thousands of antioxidants, in the most absorbable form (whole food). Pasta and bread do not have this benefit. Those antioxidants are crucial to the triathlete because they rid the body of exercised- induced free radicals we create training as hard as we do. Free radicals are one of the biggest problems facing triathletes today so it is something you should familiarize yourself with.
OK we'll give Ray a half a point for his answer of Fat. Fat is a back up source of energy as it converts to glycogen when you deplete your initial storage from carbs. This is very important if you are racing or training for long extended periods of time like Ray does.
